Discussion on Reincarnation

I remember talking with some friends, finally people who were willing to go further in a discussion about reincarnation, or rather, the cycle, repurposing, and transformative aspect of energy –all that exits, lives, breathes.

We were at the creek down river from the Sugar Hallow dam in Virginia, trying to work up the courage to step into the frightfully cold water. We had mentioned how in the next life you are reincarnated as so many different forms and how we are constantly learning, experiencing, and choosing our next life.

“But isn’t it exhausting?" I asked. "To always be living and having to be reincarnated since energy must take one form or another?” (Note the Law of Conservation of Energy)

One of the men, a newly acquired friend named Jim, turned and answered me. He explained that light was energy, as was water, and air. “Light doesn’t do much. It casts its rays and is content to simply be.” He elaborated that we can take this approach to rest in our lives or decide however long we want to take in between forms or in between cycles of reincarnation. We have the power to do so.

I was so relieved. Listening to another’s insight is a never satisfied hunger of mine. Jim had gained the insight to a discontent that I had pondered and struggled with since I was young; this sense of tiredness, “What is the point? Why keep living?” and how to attain rest for the eternal ever-cycling soul.

I was so relieved and thankful for this experience. I hope it aids in your understanding or perhaps you have a similar experience. Feel free to comment below and share your insight or questions.
